Beth Lynn Freiday, 67, was born June 7, 1957 in LaGrange, Illinois to Jack Freiday and Bettie Morgan Freiday. She arrived with her twin Shirley to greet their older sister Jackie. From the start Beth was full of spunk and ready for a challenge. The family moved to Downers Grove, Illinois where they lived until the twins were 12. Beth would then move with her mother and sisters to Virginia Beach. There she competed in gymnastics and spent her early teen years. Beth and her twin Shirley were the best of friends and did most things together. Eventually they moved back to Illinois where they fell in love with boys who were also best friends. It was this boyfriend who would take Beth on new travels to Arkansas. While he tragically passed in a car accident Beth still decided to settle in the Ozarks. Here just a few years later she began the new adventure of being a mother when her son, Shelby, was born in 1981 followed by her daughter, Sarah, in 1984.

As she looked for a way to support her family Beth decided to pursue a career in nursing. She even drove herself to nursing classes on a scooter while nine months pregnant. When she decided to do something, there was nothing that could stop her.

She went on to become a floor manager at North Arkansas Regional Medical Center. Beth was known as a hard worker who did not shy away from any task and she was dedicated to her patients. At 4ft 11in and 90 pounds soaking wet Beth was not intimidated by anyone. She was not afraid to speak up for those whose well-being she was charged with overseeing. Even if that meant speaking her mind to a few doctors.

Beth chose to serve her community outside of work too. Holding a special place in her heart was the annual Easter egg hunt for Boone County Special Services where she would spend hours dyeing Easter eggs to hide and then dress Shelby or Sarah up as the Easter bunny. She served as a host home for an international exchange student from Spain and Luismi has remained an honorary part of the family. Her kindness extended beyond people and Beth found a whole host of animals to rescue from her beloved dogs and cats, to raccoons, goats, cows, and even a pig, who somehow found its way in to the children's beds!

Beth was also a believer in the saying "work hard play hard."Her job as a nurse did not keep her from continuing to pursue an exciting life outside of work. She was happiest in the sunshine near water so she spent her spare time at the Bull Shoals lake with her loved ones. She traveled with her kids all over the U.S., and when she could she took her children on journeys to Mexico and Europe. In later years she traveled with Sarah to visit Shelby on the island of Dominica and her sister Jackie in Hawaii. Every trip with Beth always ended up with an exciting story to tell.

In 2003 Beth pursued her dream of living on the coast by moving to Hudson Florida, where she worked as a nurse for the Bonati Spine Institute, and more importantly, got to spend her days in her backyard on the canal where she would sometimes swim with manatees. Beth loved her time in Florida and made some good friends and neighbors there. But her family was happy to have her return closer to home in 2015. For a few years while she was well enough to engage we were able to witness her be a loving Nana to her grandchildren. They enjoyed interacting with her, dyeing Easter eggs, having family dinners, hearing stories, and including her in any events that she could attend.

In addition to being a Nana, Beth also enjoyed being an aunt to her nieces and nephews.

Beth passed on December 30, 2024. She left this world the way she came in to it, with her twin Shirley by her side. She is preceded in death by her father Jack, her mother Bettie, Sarah's father Hank Veach, her nephew Jack Rice, her former husband and lifelong friend Rusty Shaffer, and dear friend Michelle Hayes.

Beth is survived by her daughter Sarah Veach, and son, Shelby Hahn (Emily), her sisters Shirley Irwin (Gary) and Jackie Finch (Paul), her grandsons Asher and Micah, her granddaughters Esther and Rusty. And her many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
