Ethel Louise McCabe, 72, passed away on March 16, 2025, in Bentonville, Arkansas.

Born on January 27, 1953, in Downey, California, Ethel led a life filled with adventure, kindness, and dedication to both family and community. Throughout her career, she held various bookkeeping and clerical positions and was also a business owner multiple times. She found great joy working at Hobbs State Park and in the bookstore at Pea Ridge National Military Park, where her love for nature and history flourished.

Ethel as a longtime resident of the Garfield area and was deeply involved in the community. She participated in many local activities, including Girl Scouts and was a EMT with the volunteer ambulance service. Her generous spirit extended beyond people to animals as well—Ethel had a deep love for wildlife, horses, and pets of all kinds. She cared for several hundred hummingbirds and found peace in watching deer roam through her yard.  Whether hiking through nature or simply enjoying the beauty of the outdoors, Ethel embraced every opportunity for advnture.

Above all else, Ethel was thoughtful, loving, and kind to everyone she met. She fiercely protected those she loved and always extended a helping hand to those in need. Her warmth and generosity left an indelible mark on all who knew her.

Ethel is survived by her devoted husband of 55 years, Larry McCabe; their three children: George McCabe (Pearl), Kelly McCabe (Daniel), and Daniel McCabe (Christina); as well as her grandson Allen McCabe (Angela). She was preceded in death by her beloved parents Ruby and Vernon Culp, two sisters Dorothy and Bernice, and brother James.

A memorial gathering will be held on Sunday, March 23, 2025 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the family home located at 17597 McCabe Lane in Garfield, Arkansas.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a local animal rescue in honor of Ethel's lifelong love for animals. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew her and in the natural beauty she cherished so deeply.
