Obituary

Jason Wood, 47, of Rogers, Arkansas died January 14, 2025 at Mercy Hospital in Rogers.

He was born January 17, 1977 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas to Billy Jerald Wood, Jr. and Jennifer (Jones) Billings. As a young adult Jason developed a passion for law enforcement from his mentor and Step Father, Mike Hurst. He started his career as a Dispatcher for the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office. Jason went on to serve as a Deputy for Jefferson County from 1998-2007 and the Benton County Sheriff's Office from 2007-2015. In 2013, the Army Corps of Engineers presented Jason with a Life Saving Award for his part in saving a life on Beaver Lake. In 2014, Jason received the M.A.D.D All Star Award in recognition for his hard work and dedication to keeping the roadways and communities safe from drunk driving.

Jason worked tirelessly as a DWI Officer for the citizens of Benton County and went on to further his training as a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE). In recent years, Jason volunteered his time as a Campground Host at several Army Corps of Engineers parks on Beaver Lake. He is preceded in death by his step-father, Mike Hurst; maternal grandparents, Calvin and Nell Jones; paternal grandparents, Billy and Lyla Wood and fiancé, Tamra Jouette

Survivors are his son, Bradley Jason Wood (Katelyn) of Fordyce, AR.; step-son, Clintin Gray of Rogers, AR.; father, Billy Wood Jr. and step-mom, Sue of Foley, AL; mother, Jennifer Billings of Rogers, AR.; brother, Justin Wood (Brooke) of Anchorage, AK.; step-brother, Jim Hurst (Margie) of Brandon, MS; former spouse, Debbie Wood of Rogers and many friends and extended family.

Jason had a passion for helping others and never met a stranger. Through his many years in law enforcement he formed special friendships that he cherished and continued to help others long after his career in law enforcement came to an end. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
