Jerry Dale
Waugh
Mar 31, 1939 — Mar 16, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jerry "Jake" Dale Waugh, 85, of Pea Ridge, Arkansas. Jerry passed away on Sunday, March 16, 2025, at 10:48 AM in the home of his daughter Sarah, surrounded by loved ones, with the support of hospice care.
Jerry began his life on March 31, 1939, born to Jack and Ella Mae (McBrien) Waugh in Edna, Kansas. He grew up alongside his older brother, Jimmy Waugh, and two younger sisters, Barbara and Patty, enjoying a warm and nurturing upbringing. Jerry attended high school in Edna, where he met his beautiful future wife, Sharon Wester, who had moved to Edna in 1956. The two married on November 23, 1958, in Miami, Oklahoma, embarking on a loving partnership that spanned 58 years.
Jerry and Sharon first settled in Coffeyville, Kansas, before moving to Santa Cruz, California, in 1959. In 1976, they relocated to Rogers, Arkansas, and eventually settled in Grove, Oklahoma, in 1995, where they shared many happy years. After Sharon's passing, Jerry moved back closer to his family, settling in Pea Ridge, Arkansas.
Jerry, a highly skilled carpenter and contractor, made his mark in California and Arkansas. Known for his precision, he could famously drive a 16-penny nail in a single strike. Beyond his professional talents, Jerry was a loving family man with a big smile and an even bigger heart. Quick-witted and clever, he had a playful spirit and an affection for horsing around, leaving behind countless memories of love and laughter. Jerry was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sharon; his daughter, Shannon, and her husband, Joe; his granddaughter, Kaylah Ausmus; his grandson, Kyle; his great granddaughter, Evie; his parents, Jack Waugh and Ella Mae Thompson; his sister, Barbara, and her husband, Jim Bond; his sister-in-law, Patsy Waugh; and his brother-in-law, Bob Barnett.
He is survived by his two daughters, Cheryl Dotson and her husband, David, of Rogers, Arkansas, and Sarah Ausmus and her husband, Phillip, of Bentonville, Arkansas; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; brother Jimmy Waugh, sister Patty Barnett, and his sister-in-law, Jeanne Bowen, and her husband, Bill, of Rogers, Arkansas.
Jerry's legacy of warmth, humor, and craftsmanship will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. The family wishes to thank the hospice team for their compassionate care during Jerry's final days.
