Layne Beard, 88, of Pea Ridge, Arkansas went to be with his Lord and Savior October 4, 2024 in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

He was born October 6, 1935 in Lowell, Arkansas to William Lephly Beard and Martha Jane Jones Beard. He served in the United States Army 47th Division, Company E, 2nd Brigade and later married Connie Jo Lester June 30, 1962. Layne was a crack shot with a rifle, loved to target shoot, trap shoot. He was a great mechanic, could fix anything and loved to travel the country. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Lowell and is preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Harold Beard, Thurma Rozar, Era Mabry, Vida Marler, Rowena Wells, Ada Davenport, Annette Alderson, and Bernice Beard.

Survivors are his wife of sixty-two years, Connie Jo Beard; sons, Jeff Beard and wife Carla of Sonora, Ark., Greg Beard and wife Kathy of Crestview, Florida; brother, Clint Beard of Lowell, Ar.; grandchildren, Matt, Jessica, Desiree, Zach, Amy, Dakota, Mack, Olivia, Kenzley "Pee Wee"; fourteen great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.

Service is set for 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 9, 2024 at First Baptist Church in Lowell with visitation to begin at 1:00 p.m. before service. Burial will be in Spring Creek Cemetery.
