Lida Francis Ellis Schnitzer of Garfield, Arkansas died May 17, 2025. She was born March 22, 1937 in the Elk Horn Tavern in what is now the Pea Ridge National Park to Modie Kalip Ellis and Lida Zadie Harris.

She was married to Billy Zane Schnitzer on December 17, 1954. They were married for 66 years. Proceeded in death by her husband Bill Schnitzer, brothers, Jimmy Ellis, Elwood Ellis, Thomas Ellis, sisters, Barbara Nell Ellis, Oleta Havens, Flonnie Barstow

Survivors are, a son Billy Schnitzer, Jr. and daughter in law Rebecca Schnitzer; daughter, Pam Shaw and husband Mike; brothers, Guy Ellis, Carl Ellis and sister Martha Goodall; six grandchildren, Melissa Ingram, Heather Thompson, Andrea Schnitzer, Aaron Shaw, Josh Schnitzer, Lacey Anderson; eleven great grandchildren, one great- great grandchild and many nieces and nephews

Lida dedicated her life to serving others and enriching her community in countless ways.  For 30 years she owned and operated the Ozark Trading Post, a beloved local landmark.  Her entrepreneurial spirit was matched by an unwavering commitment to public service.  In 1985 Lida helped establish the Volunteer Ambulance service "VAS", where she also served as an active EMT, responding to calls with compassion and professionalism.  Her leadership extended into civic life as well.  She served as mayor of Gateway for 22 years where she championed the development of the Gateway City Park.  Proudly cutting the ribbon at its dedication.  Lida also held the role of Gateway Postmaster for several years.  She was known for her reliability and personal touch.  Lida's heart for service reached far beyond her hometown.  She participated in mission trips to Peru, Thailand, Isreal, offering help and hope to communities across the globe.  Whether through her business, public service or missionary work, Lida left an enduring legacy of care, determination, and community spirit.

Visitation is set for 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 21, 2025 at Sisco Funeral Home in Pea Ridge. Graveside service is set for 4:00 p.m. Thursday, May 22, 2025 at Ruddick Cemetery in Garfield.
