Robert Louis
Troutt, Sr.
Dec 12, 1924 — Mar 27, 2024
We are heartbroken to announce the death of our father, Robert Louis Troutt, Sr. (1924-2024) the son of Carlton Troutt and Hildred Trimble. He passed away peacefully at the age of 99 at the Circle of Life Hospice Home, in Bentonville, Arkansas on March 27, 2024. He was preceded in death by his only sibling, Carlton Troutt and his beloved wife, Marjorie Mae (Hathaway) Troutt.
Our dad grew up in Hermosa Beach, California where he enjoyed swimming in the ocean and visiting Catalina Island. At the young age of 17 he enlisted in the Army Air Corps during WWII where he flew more than 30 missions as a tail gunner in B-17's and B-24's. After his service he worked as a meat cutter, meat manager and buyer.
Our dad enjoyed entertaining in our backyard and swimming pool. He was a proud lifetime member of the VFW, Post 2805. After retirement he moved to Grass Valley, California where he became interested in woodworking and cooking. He made numerous bird houses. He also made a rocking horse type dinosaur for his great granddaughters. Dad was always trying out new recipes and preparing delicious meals for anyone adventurous enough to try them. Dad really looked forward to his next big adventure, so we always tried to plan exciting getaways with him. He went on a cruise around the Hawaiian Islands, several all-inclusive Mexican trips and numerous trips to Catalina. His last big adventure was moving out of his beloved California to accompany Bob Jr. and Connie in Arkansas.
Dad will be remembered for all the heart and love he shared with his family and friends. He truly loved each of them and if you knew him, you knew it. Dad was always quick with a smile and enjoyed a good joke. You knew when Dad was in high spirits when he was feeling "tippy top". In typical Dad fashion, there are no services planned, certainly no pomp and circumstance. A celebration of life with immediate family will occur.
Dad is survived by his 3 children: Robert Troutt, Jr. (wife Connie Troutt), Kathleen Chiles (husband Tom Chiles) and Michael Troutt (wife Holly Troutt). He was also the proud grandfather of 8 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren.
Burial will be with his wife at Greenwood Memorial Gardens in Grass Valley, California. No services are scheduled.
