Obituary

Sandra Kay Kennedy, 76, of Garfield, Arkansas passed away peacefully on March 24, 2026, surrounded by family at Mercy Hospital in Rogers, Arkansas. She now resides where the streets are paved in gold and nobody grows old – resting in the care of the Lord! Heaven just got so much sweeter!

Born Sandra Kay Dunham on May 22, 1949, in Valentine, Nebraska. She was the daughter of James and Cynthia Dunham. She was a member of the first graduating class of Kelly Walsh High School in 1967 (Casper, Wyoming). She married her one and true love, James Kennedy, on August 8, 1967.

She took pride in everything that she did – from baking (she made the best cinnamon rolls) to sewing outfits for her girls to playing the piano or organ for church services to making the very best donuts in NWA at Garfield Citgo. Anything and everything she touched turned into pure perfection! Her greatest achievement in life is the legacy that she built – her family. Her family was her pride and joy, especially her grandchildren! Her grandchildren (the loves of her life) always brought a twinkle to her baby blues and a smile to her beautiful face – her grandbabies could literally do no wrong in her eyes!

She is survived by her daughters, Jana Wright and Lana Samuel and husband, Jeff. Grandchildren: Jesse Wright and wife, Kimberly; Jake Wright; and Keenan Braun. Great grandchildren: Logan Wright and Mackenzie Wright. Sisters: Ruth Obert and husband, Buddy and Carroll Dunham. She is preceded in death by her husband James Kennedy, granddaughter, Brittany Braun, parents James and Cythia Dunham, and sisters Jeanette Nida and Jaclyn Baugh.

In honor of Sandra Kay Kennedy, a Celebration of Life service will be held on April 11, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Gateway Chapel in Gateway, Arkansas. Lunch will be served following the service.
