Stephen Estille Goode Jr., beloved husband, dad, Papa, and friend, passed away on October 1, 2026, at the age of 68.
Steve was born on January 16, 1958, in Ottawa, Illinois, to Stephen Estille Goode Sr. and Mary Gertrude Wethington. Steve shared 44 years of marriage with his loving wife, Kathy. He was a proud dad to Eric Rowlee, Greg Rowlee, and Adam Rowlee, and a cherished “Papa” to his 11 grandchildren: Isabella, Morgan, Isaac, Jocelyn, Hannah, Ricky, Luke, Molly, Hunter, Sawyer, and Sophia. An active and devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Steve’s faith was an important part of his life. He also enjoyed sharing his love of sports with others, including coaching his church youth basketball team.
A mechanic by trade, Steve spent more than 25 years owning and running a business alongside Kathy. His skill, work ethic, and dedication served him well throughout his career. Steve had a lifelong love of sports. In his younger years, he played softball, basketball, and football, and he remained a loyal Chicago sports fan throughout his life. He also loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed weekends hiking the trails of Starved Rock State Park with his family. Above all, Steve loved his family. He will be remembered for his faith, his hard work, and the many years and memories he shared with the people he loved. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, church community, and all who knew him.
Visitation will begin at 9:00 A.M. Saturday October 17, 2026 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 1 Lambeth Rd, Bella Vista, Arkansas 72712. Funeral service will begin afterward at 10:00 A.M. Burial will be in Pratt Cemetery in Garfield, Arkansas.
A celebration of Stephen’s Life will begin at 12:30 p.m. at the church after the burial.
